The Danish-American
exchange program with Florence-Darlington Technical College
is a partnership
involving four technical schools in
Denmark: Aalborg, Aarhus, Nord, and Tietgen. The
inaugural program
took place in the spring of 2009 and the
second exchange took place in October.
Danish students got
to interact with students from FDTC and worked on an
entrepreneurial project
involving the growing problem of
obesity in the United States. This project highlighted
cultural differences
between the two countries as well as
involving the application of new communication tools in
addressing
this phenomenon. In addition, Danish
students get to experience some of the best of what South
Carolina
has to offer. This includes: a visit to
Charleston, the State Capitol in Columbia, the Riverbanks
Zoo, and
Myrtle Beach.
